She was predeceased by: her parents, H. A. "Haddy" Slinger and Katheryn Slinger (Ward); her former husband Robert "Bob" Atherton; her daughter Kimm Hansen; and her granddaughter Misty Green.
She is survived by: her husband Byron Kruse; her children, Gregory Atherton (Carmen), Tom Kruse (Julie), Kurt Kruse (Angel) and Kathy Kruse; her grandchildren, Nat Hansen (Amy), Jared Hansen, Ashley Thompson (Nate), Amanda Atherton, Garrett Atherton, Allison Atherton, Neil Mink (Leti Coral), Kayla Kruse, Kellie Nixon (Chris), Gabby Ivy (Morgan) and Alex Parks; and her great grandchildren, Bryce Green, Emily Green, Allister Mink, Maggie Ivy, Audrey Ivy and Ellie Ivy.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Charles City YMCA to be used toward the Learn to Swim Fund.
