She was predeceased by: her parents, Elza McDonald and Dora Mae McDonald (Peyton); her husband Bob; her son Ricky Johansen; her brother Darwin McDonald; and her siblings-in-law, Rose Marie McDonald, Shorty Ellis and Slim DeLoach.
She is survived by: her granddaughters, Debra, Nina and Sharon; her children, Robert (Glenda) of Chariton, Randy (Martha) of Birmingham, AL, Debra (Dan) of Lacona, Nina (Stewart) of Charles City and Sharon of Des Moines; her daughter-in-law Pat Johansen Heinrichs of Carroll; her grandchildren, Nicole, Aaron, Lisa, Adam, Jonathan, Jamie, Melissa, Andrew, Angela, Sherri, Benjamin, Hanna and Carly; her great grandchildren, Gabrielle, Macy, Riley Mae, Hunter, Vance of Evan, A. J., Delaney, Rowan, Charlotte, Nora, Chance, Lucy, Crosby, Cami, Gwen, Vivian, Colton, Madeleine, Mila, Maui and Jackson; and her siblings, Don McDonald (Laura), Roger McDonald and Carol DeLoach. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Memorials may be made in Nelda's name to the First Lutheran Church in Chariton.
