She was predeceased by: her mother Hattie Jones (Clemons-Denniston); her son David Smithart; and her stepfather Fred O. Jones. She is survived by: her former husbands, Richard Smithart, Roger Millang and Everett Carpenter; her daughter Denise Smithart Olson of Des Moines; and her daughter-in-law Debra Smithart of Ottumwa. She is also survived by four grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; three brothers and five sisters.
