He was predeceased by: his father Paul Cummings. He is survived by: his mother Elsie Cummings (Fitzgarrald) of Cedar Rapids; his wife Halane Cumberland; his children, Molly Cummings of Lawrence and Emmet Cummings of Cedar Falls; his sisters, Lorie Christy (Don) of Marengo and Carman Rosburg (Tom) of Colo; and his sisters-in-law, Diana Lamphier (Marion) of Urbana and Gwen Schaeffer (Bryan) of Urbana. He is also survived by numerous extended family members and dear friends.

A memorial fund in Phil's name has been established.
