He was predeceased by: his parents, Raymond Kopacek and Dorothy Kopacek (Trca); and his sister Beverly Hiscocks (Mary Ann Kopacek). He is survived by: his siblings, Tom Kopacek (Jenny) of Blaine, MN and Bonnie Pals of Waverly. He is also survived by many nephews and nieces, his brother.

Memorials may be directed to St. Edward Catholic Church, Waterloo, Holy Rosary Cluster, Elma, St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Duncan, and the Archdiocese of Dubuque, Seminarian Formation.

“I am a member of St. Mary Parish in Marshalltown & Father Kopacek was our pastor here, when I was very sick with no diagnosis @ the time. I asked Father to give me last rights , because I really didn't I would make it, & I remember him being so patient with me & sharing my tears --I never forgot that & being a volunteer @ our hospice home here, called the Cedar Valley HOspice home in Waterloo to ask if he wanted me to play my harp for him. I found out I was a day too late. but I'm still going”
