It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of James Shanklin of Cedar, Iowa, born in Abingdon, Virginia, who passed away on August 31, 2020, at the age of 83, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, John and Helen; his siblings, John and Mary Helen; his daughter Mary Catherine; and his granddaughter Melissa Adam.

He is survived by: his children, Cheryl Adam (Steve), Jim Shanklin Jr. (Jennie) and Trisha Smith (Nate); and his grandchildren, Joshua and Anece.

As mandated by proclamation, social distancing must be practiced which requires a limited number of people to be allowed into the visitation at one time.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to Camp Courageous of Iowa, El Kahir Shrine Transportation Fund, or Westminster Presbyterian Church.
