With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Gertrude Hegarty of Cedar, Iowa, born in North Liberty, Iowa, who passed away on December 29, 2024 at the age of 95. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her husband John Hegarty Sr.; her parents, Earl Lentz and Gertrude Lentz (Reasland); and her siblings, Esther Shanklin, Betty Downs, Ruth Shain, Edna Oberhaus, Earl Lentz Jr. and John Lentz.

She is survived by: her children, John Hegarty Jr. (Kay), Elizabeth Posekany (Dave) and Jennifer Hoeppner (Brad); her grandchildren, Lindsey, Dawson, Alyssa and Shelby; and also, Beverly Lentz and Suzan Johnson.
