Erna Brendes Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Erna Brendes of Cedar, Iowa, born in Wheatland, Iowa, who passed away on June 13, 2024, at the age of 96, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Heinrick Horstmann and Alvina Horstmann; her husband Merle Brendes; and her son David. She is survived by: her children, Donna Hooker (Marvin), Gary Brendes (Linda) and Tammy Johnson (Harlan); and her grandchildren, Kevin Nanke (Kim), Kirk Nanke (Angie), Kent Nanke (Kristi), Kory Nanke (Candice), Aron Brendes (Sara), Jason Brendes (Paulette), Joshua Johnson (Joslin), Nick Hooker (Sam) and Beth Haider (Michael). She is also survived by 21 great-grandchildren; ten great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy.
