He was predeceased by: his siblings, Mary Means (Scott), Don (Kris), Ron (Jenny), Terri Shay (Dan), Mike (Brenda) and Patti Seydel (Phil).

He is survived by: his children, Ben (Angie) of Chicago, Megan Salyer (Steve) of Cedar Rapids, Melissa Kopf (Ben) of Minneapolis and Bethany Votroubek (Nathan) of Cedar Rapids; and his grandchildren, Brayden, Adam, Gwendolyn, Grace, Isabelle and Katelyn.
