He was predeceased by: his former wife Mary A. Hughes; his parents, Robert Hughes and Ann Hughes; and his brothers, Donald and Richard Hughes.
He is survived by: his grandchildren, Cameron Hughes (Edith Wheagar) of Cedar Rapids, Austin Montelius (Rhiannon) of Iowa City and Andrew Montelius of Cedar Rapids; and his wife Snoozie. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed the St. Patrick's Catholic Church.
