He was predeceased by: his son Anthony "TJ" Dixon; and his father Alvin Cooks. He is survived by: his wife Debra; his children, Dicia Morgan, Adam Cook, Amanda Dixon, Cora Dixon and James Hall II; his mother Cora Cooks; and his brother Robert Jenkins. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren, nine great grandchildren.
