She was predeceased by: her parents, Eldon Akers and Delores'Dory'Ziebarth Akers; her brother Kenneth Akers; and her nephew Matthew Hemminger. She is survived by: her husband Ted Steele of Cedar Rapids; her sons, Brent Steele (Mindy) and Kyle Steele (Lisa) of Cedar Rapids; her grandchildren, Brenan Steele (Marisa), Kaleb Steele, Annabelle Steele and Joseph Eldon Steele; her great grandchild Norah Steele; her brothers, Allen Akers (Pam) and Steve Akers (Julie); her nieces and nephews, Michelle Hahn (George), Isaiah Akers (Amy), Mason Akers (Terra), Austin Akers, Skyler Akers and Ben Akers; and her cousins, Tim, Flo Akers, Katie, Troy Benham, Larry and Diane Gass.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 27th 2025 from 3:30 PM to 6:00 PM at the Cedar Memorial Chapel (4200 1st Ave NE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52402). A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 28th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories (4200 1st Ave NE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52402).
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family. A memorial fund that will support arts education and special needs education will be established in Barb's name.
