She was predeceased by: her husband Bill; her son Gregory (Kathy) of Newton, IA; her great grandchild Austin Hunter; her siblings, Avis Key of Kingsport, TN, Violet Davison of Sierra Vista, AZ, Bruce (Josie), Gene McLarty (Maxine) of Arley, AL and Wayne McLarty (Sondra) of Atkins, IA; her brothers-in-law, William Key of Alabama and Donald A. Rinderknecht; and her parents, Thomas McLarty and Fleta McLarty (Lindley).
She is survived by: her children, Bev Chariton (Scott) of Hiawatha, Jan Anthony of Marion, Jim Birky (Sally) of Milliken, CO and Tom Hensley-Birky (Kathy) of Cedar Rapids; her nephew Kenneth Key (Drexie) of Kingsport, TN; her sister-in-law Betty Jean Rinderknecht of Coon Rapids, MN; and her cousins, Betty Lou Hood, Ray Wadsworth and Gaynell White. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
Later on, she devoted numerous enjoyable years as the director of the local nonprofit Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) until retiring to care for Bill until his passing.
