He was predeceased by: his parents, Emmanuel Berndt and Bertha Berndt (Wormsbecker); and his wife Thelma Broyles. He is survived by: his children, Richard Berndt of Swisher, IA and Barbara Skrdla of Las Vegas, NV; and his grandchildren, Matthew Berndt of Port St and Kelly Johnson (Andre) of Cedar Rapids, IA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to Westminster Presbyterian Church and/or the Cedar Rapids Mercy Hospital Foundation.
