He was predeceased by: his parents, James Mercer and Althea Mercer; his siblings, Mildred Abrahamson of Sioux City, Jim of Gulfport and Bob of Homer; and his sister-in-law Kathleen.
He is survived by: his brother Rich Mercer (Barb) of Salix; his children, David (Kimberly) of Ankeny, Luann Yanecek (Jim) of Solon and Thomas (Jeanne) of Dubuque; his grandchildren, Micaela Dyer (Dylan), Karina Wakefield (Bryan), Marie Bogh (Alex), Daniel Yanecek (Allyson), Andrew Mercer (Haley) and David Mercer; and his great grandchildren, Nellie Dyer, Mercer Wakefield, Geneva Dyer, Eliza Wakefield, Judson Dyer, Theodora Bogh, Pierce Dyer, Caroline Wakefield and Quinn Yanecek.
Visitation was held on Friday, December 13th 2024 at 9:30 AM at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. A funeral service was held on Friday, December 13th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
