He was predeceased by: his parents, Theodore Balster and Kathryn Balster (Selvidge); and his brother Jimmie Balster. He is survived by: his wife Sherry Jo Karg of Cedar Rapids, IA; his son Bryce Balster (Lindsay Hudson) of Cedar Rapids, IA; his grandchildren, Micheal and Grace; and his siblings, Larry Balster (Gretchen) of Scottsdale, AZ, Kennon Balster (Kate) of Blanchard, IA and David Balster (Barb) of Des Moines, IA..
