With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Shirley Spading Karrar of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, born in Columbus Junction, Iowa, who passed away on May 11, 2023 at the age of 85. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her former husband Robert Spading; her brother Leroy; and her parents, Adolph Hals and Edith Axtell Hals. She is survived by: her children, Michael Spading (Cindy), Kris Terrell (Randy) and Rob Spading (Carolyn); her stepdaughters, Karen Pine (Steve) and Kathy Karrar; her grandchildren, Jonathan, Matthew, Ethan, Jason, Tiffany, Jeffrey, Greggory, McKinley, Kendall, Spencer and Nathan; and her husband Jacob Art Karrar. She is also survived by 8 great grandchildren.

Memorials may be directed to the University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Fund, 200 Hawkins Dr., Iowa City, IA 52242.
