We are sad to announce that on April 13, 2025, at the age of 74, Richard E. Balvanz of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, born in Perry, Iowa passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his father Gerald Balvanz; and his pet Foster. He is survived by: his wife Pamela Balvanz; his mother Elizabeth Balvanz; his children, Jenny Leichsenring (Brad), Chad Balvanz (Kristi), Jason Balvanz (Patty), Dawn Petersen (Jeff) and Dana Brooks (Bob); his grandchildren, Sarah Authier, Hannah Leichsenring, Noah Leichsenring, Robert Costly, Courtney Van Steenhuyse (Evan) and Owen Brooks; his great grandchildren, Ace and Kingston Authier; and his siblings, Doug, Greg and Ann.
Visitation will be held on Monday, April 21st 2025 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service (520 Wilson Ave SW, Cedar Rapids, IA 52404). A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, April 22nd 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
Memorials may be directed to Melanoma Skin Cancer Research or local Autism organizations.
