He is survived by: his wife Colleen; his daughters, Donna Goede (Dan) of Sioux Falls, SD, Carol Wallace (John) of Houston, TX and Sarah Frey (Buddy) of Charlotte, NC; his grandchildren, Daryl Ann Kappenman (Jim), Drew Goede (Lauren), Callie Wallace (Dan Yelin), Caryn Gold (Ravid), Claire Wallace, Nicole Frey (Jarrod Buchanon) and Jack Frey; and his great grandchildren, Oliver, Maya, James, Ben Kappenman, Lewis Goede, Heath Yelin, Gemma Gold and Eleanor Buchanon.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Sierra Club and Iowa Public Radio.
