She was predeceased by: her parents, Hoyt Duval Core, Sr. and Margaret Nadine Core (Whitfield); her husband Wilton Dennis "Smitty" Smith; her brother Hoyt D Core, Jr. (Bubba); and her granddaughter Heather Needy Terry.
She is survived by: her daughters, Denise Willems (Daniel) of Cedar Rapids and Mitzi Mullins of Collinsville, VA.; her granddaughters, Mary Beth Willems (Drew Stevens) of Cedar Rapids, Dinah Afriyie (Joe) and Holly Needy (Derek Coles) of Collinsville, VA.; her great grandchildren, Antony Afriyie, Liliana Afriyie, Dom Kruger and Kimora Dillard of Danville, VA.; and her sister Polly Sullivan of West Melbourne, FL..
