We are sad to announce that on December 6, 2024, at the age of 99, Maurice Garnant of Cedar Rapids, Iowa passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
In the echoes of fond remembrance, may a sense of peace be found, knowing that the memories held dear will continue to shape and inspire his loved ones, keeping Maurice's spirit alive in the hearts and actions of family and friends alike. While his presence may be gone, his impact lives on in the kindness shown to others and the joy found in the ordinary moments of life.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Horace Garnant and Lois Garnant (Fuhrmeister); and his brother Raymond Garnant (Barbara). He is survived by: his wife Rachel Truhlar; and his children, Beverly Garnant of St. Louis, Maureen Smith (Roger) of Clinton, Kristin Garnant (Skip) of Camanche and James Garnant (Sherry) of Ely. He is also survived by five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and numerous extended family.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, December 10th 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Brosh Chapel - Cedar Rapids (2121 Bowling St SW, Cedar Rapids, IA 52404). A celebration of life was held on Wednesday, December 11th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the St. John Lutheran Church (1420 Walker St, Ely, IA 52227).
