It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mary Ann Root of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, born in Burlington, Iowa, who passed away on February 24, 2024, at the age of 83, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her siblings, David Asby and Janet Schroder (Elliott); her son-in-law Robert Mahraun; and her parents, Frederick Asby and Ethel Bohlen Asby.
She is survived by: her husband Larry Root; her children, Cheryl Mahraun of North Liberty, Kara Sanford (Nick) of Cedar Rapids and Allen Root (Linda) of Norway; her grandchildren, Kevin, Janine, Shannon, Shaun, Michael, Benjamin, James and Jordan; her close friends, Joanne Ward and Brenda West-Chase; and her sister-in-law Marjorie Asby. She is also survived by several great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
