He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Benda and Mary Benda (Balvin); and his siblings, Adolph (Violet), Milo (Mildred), Ludwig (Alma), Emil (Inga), Vitus (Dorothy), Joseph (Marian), Lester Benda, Vera Smith (Devon) and Leota Lamparek (Leo).

He is survived by: his nephews, Merlin and Ronnie; and his brother Ernie Benda (Diana) of Davenport. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
