He was predeceased by: his parents, John Henry and Evelyn D. Mehaffy (Lyons); his wife Jeannette L. Gahn; his son Marvin; his great grandchild Colton; and his sisters, Ramona and Donna.

He is survived by: his children, Linda Parrish of Burlington, IA, Corie Moyers (Faron) of Clements, CA, Tim Mehaffy, Becca Barker (Brian), Matt Mehaffy of Cedar Rapids, IA, Mark Mehaffy (Lannette) of Marion, IA and Jason Mehaffy (Shawna) of North Liberty, IA; and his sister Joyce Davis of Burlington, IA.. He is also survived by twenty grandchildren; thirty-three great-grandchildren; eight great great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
