He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Bateman and Helen Bateman (Lienhard); his siblings, Paul Bateman and Ruth Bateman Bruner; his son Michael Bateman; and his nephew Matthew Bisping.
He is survived by: his daughters, Becky Bateman (Victor Rocha) of Cedar Rapids and Emily Bateman of Marion; his grandchildren, Robert Bateman of Springfield, Oregon, Rachel Rocha, Changzhou, Nicholas Rocha (Naomi) of Ft. Worth and Riley Bateman of Springfield, Illinois; and his siblings, Kathryn Bateman of Cresco, Iowa, David Bateman (Suzy) of West Bend, Tom Bateman (Mary) of Waterloo and Steve Bateman (Cheryl) of Cedar Rapids.
Memorials to the family may be directed to Kathryn Bateman 502 5th Ave W #6, Cresco, Iowa 52136. In lieu of flowers, donations could be made in his name to The Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy.
