He was predeceased by: his wife Ida Naughton; his siblings, Barb Banes and Anthony; his niece Charlotte; his nephew Randy; and his parents, Louis Behounek and Emma Kubik Behounek.
He is survived by: his children, Beth Hennessy (Steve) and Mark Behounek (Melinda); his grandchildren, Morgan, Chris (Brandy), Mike (Erika), Colin (Melissa) and Molly (Noah); his great grandchildren, Riley, Mason, Jameson, Ellie, Nathan, Bennett, Eden, Maeve and Lyla; and his siblings, Rita Sevcik (Larry), Fran Behounek (Jeanie), Cathy Wilkinson (Jack), Bernie Behounek (Jackie), Damien Behounek (Bernita), Mike Behounek (Penny) and Mary Willaby (Joel). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, November 29th 2024 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the All Saints Catholic Church (720 29th St SE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52403). A funeral Mass was held on Friday, November 29th 2024 at 10:00 AM at the same location.
A memorial fund has been established in John's name.
