He was predeceased by: his parents, Bettie Smith and Frank Smith of East St; and his sister Frances Brooks of East St. He is survived by: his daughter Melody Upshaw of Springfield; and his siblings, Ella Lee, Fannie Samuel of East, Lloyd Smith, Leonard Smith, Quinnton Smith and Lafayette Smith. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews.
