It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Jack A Read of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, born in Regina, Saskatchewan, who passed away on October 2, 2023, at the age of 92, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry Read and Irene Read. He is survived by: his wife Elaine Marie Ficken; his children, Lyndsay Read McCall of Palouse, John M. Read of Brandon, Carol L. McNamara (Michael) of Coggon and Craig A. Read (Judy) of Springfield, Missouri; his grandchildren, Shaun McNamara, Michelle McNamara and Colin McNamara (Katie); his extended family, Josh Willia (Lizette) and Jeremy Willia (Kim); and his pet Sadie. He is also survived by three great-grandchildren.

Memorials in Jack's memory may be directed to HACAP at 1515 Hawkeye Drive, Hiawatha, Iowa 52233.

“To Coach Read's family: I am a member of the Class of 1959, Kirkwood high School, Kirkwood IL where Coach Read taught for several years. Coach Jack came to KHS in 1957 and was our Football & Track Coach, Ass't. Basketball Coach, Biology Teacher and Driver Education Teacher. Jack attended many of our class reunions and we considered him an honorary member of our class. He will be missed but always remembered. Our Class wishes you to best of memories.”
