He was predeceased by: his parents, William Holmes and Agnes Holmes (Ryan); and his siblings, Harry, Patrick Holmes, Kathryn VanDeusen and Dorothy Holmes.
He is survived by: his siblings, William Holmes, David Holmes (Marilyn), Joseph Holmes, Francis Holmes, Mary Roff (Roger), Therese Wirtz (David) and Christina Holmes (Cody Wade); and his siblings-in-law, Rita Holmes and Thomas VanDeusen (Amber).
Visitation was held on Tuesday, November 19th 2024 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. A funeral Mass was held on Wednesday, November 20th 2024 at 10:30 AM at the St. Patrick Catholic Church (510 1st Ave NW, Cedar Rapids, IA 52405).
Memorials may be made to the Willis Dady Homeless Shelter. The Holmes family wishes to thank all medical personnel who contributed to his life over many years, and to his long-time caregiver Kristie Solomon and son Caleb for the significant contributions to his life, they are and always will be his family.
