With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Fred G. Thompson II of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on January 4, 2025 at the age of 81. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Mary Thompson (Stevenson) and Fred G. Thompson. He is survived by: his wife Pat Thompson of Cedar Rapids; his daughters, Jennifer Takes (John) of Urbana and Betsy Phelps (Jeff) of Cedar Rapids; his grandchildren, Kayla (Kamden), Emily (Gabe), Courtney (Reyanna), Bailey (Josh), Nick (Danica) and Skyler (Caelynn); his great grandchildren, Jackson and Addison; and his brother-in-law Mike Balfe.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Wounded Warrior Project or the Eastern Iowa Honor Flight.
