He was predeceased by: his wife Rosetta Tyson; his parents, Barbara L. Tyson (Burke) and Ernest C. Tyson, Sr.; and his siblings, Sidney Burke and Valerie Amos.

He is survived by: his stepdaughter Tyisha Armour-Curlis (Johnathan); and his grandchildren, Tyrique Woods, Tremaine Woods, TyJahn Washington and TyLisa Washington.
