It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Charles Shafer of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, born in Marengo, Iowa, who passed away on November 12, 2023, at the age of 96, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Hubert Shafer and Ruth Shafer; and his sister Betty Scheible. He is survived by: his wife Betty Svoboda; his children, Scott Shafer (Pam) of Cedar Rapids, Michael Shafer (Terri) of Clarkesville, Georgia and Debra Rogers (Doug) of Charles City, Iowa.; and his grandchildren, David Shafer (Barry Randall), Dr. Tamara Woods (Alex), Leslie Johnson (Mark), Britney Baer (Josh), Katie Jensen (Brad) and Nick Rogers. He is also survived by thirteen great grandchildren, and a niece and nephew.
