She was predeceased by: her parents, Lily Cortez and Ynocencio Cortez; her children, Glennis Thurmond and Daniel Hodges; and her grandson Gabriel Hodges-Slaman.
She is survived by: her children, Leland Cox (Carla) of Long Island and Mary Jo Reynolds (Dave) of Oviedo, Florida; her niece Bettina Miller of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and her siblings, Juan Cortez, Sr., Daniel Cortez, Felice McCray, Marnita Cortez and Venellie Cortez. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; many great-great-grandchildren; and a host of great-nieces, great-nephews.
