He was predeceased by: his parents, Augustine Perez and Josephine Perez (Castillo); his wife Lenora Edwards; his children, Timothy Perez and Vicki Perez; his children-in-law, Jodene Perez and Melvin Jensen; and his siblings, Mary Zimmerman, Lorenzo Perez, Victor Perez and Paul Perez.

He is survived by: his children, Mary Jensen, Paulette Wood (Jim), Debbie Soukup (Dale), David Perez (Julie), John Perez, Janet Perez and Steve Perez (Tina); his brother Augie Perez (Carol); his sister-in-law Cecelia Perez; and his pet Ziggy. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, October 29th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Papich-Kuba Funeral Service (1228 2nd St SE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52401). A burial was held on Tuesday, October 29th 2024 at the Saint John's Cemetery (1340 17th St SE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52401).
