He was predeceased by: his parents, William Schmidt and Caroline Schmidt (Brandt); his spouse Victory "Vicki" Schaulis; and his sister Janola Schmidt. He is survived by: his children, Tim Schmidt (Dawne) of Boone, Brent Schmidt (Antoinette) of Pennsylvania, Patti Taylor (Jim) of Cedar Falls and Brenda Kadera (Greg) of California; and his sisters, Wilma Frost of LaPorte City and Diane Nation of Harpers Ferry. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church.
