He was predeceased by: his parents, Clyde Smith and Grace Smith (Groen); and his siblings, Francis Rabe, Vivian McCraken, Kenneth, Donald, Virgil and Michael.
He is survived by: his wife Roberta La Pierre; his sons, Bradley (Sarah) of Cedar Falls and Ryan (Susan) of Muscatine; and his grandchildren, Ethan of Cedar Falls, Elly of Eugene, Clayton and Mason of Muscatine.
Memorials may be directed to the Iowa Woodland Owners Association, of which Russ was a member, or to Cedar Valley Hospice Waterloo service area.
