It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Richard Patrick Loughren of Cedar Falls, Iowa, who passed away on March 3, 2025, at the age of 84, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Bernard Loughren and Mary "Loretta" Loughren (McDowell); his parents-in-law, James and Nora Maloney; his sister Connie; his brother-in-law Greg Fawcett; his sister Sara Hiller; his siblings-in-law, Bill Maloney and Mary Jo McKinney; and his nieces and nephews, Christopher Loughren, Morgan, Caitlin, Kelcie Hiller, Victor Loughren, Jacob Lipski and Shelby Kearns.
He is survived by: his wife Sheila Marie Maloney of Mary's Catholic Church; his children, Katie Johnson (Craig) of Bondurant, Kevin Loughren of Ankeny and Beth Loughren; his grandchildren, Kelcie Langel (Drew), Luke Loughren, Lydia, Grace and Bridget Johnson; and his siblings, Mary Kay Loughren, Don Loughren, Sr. (Gloria), Marge Loughren, Jim Loughren (Lois), Ken Loughren (Elaine), Janet Whitney (Terry) and Mike Loughren (Dianne). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, March 5th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM and on Thursday, March 6th 2025 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM. A Mass of Christian burial was held on Thursday, March 6th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church (650 Stephan Ave, Waterloo, IA 50701). A committal service was held on Thursday, March 6th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the St. Patrick Cemetery (2856 Washington Ave, Coggon, IA 52218).
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Dick's family for a future charitable donation in his memory.
