He was predeceased by: his parents, Clyde Nicholas and Helen Clare Maughan (Gammill); his wife Ruth Anna (Witthoft); his grandson Matthew Maughan; and his siblings, Nicholas (Vera), Matthew (Jerry) and Arametta (Jim).
He is survived by: his granddaughters, Laura and Linda; his children, John Francis Maughan II (Diane), Laura Bowden (Monte) and Linda Maughan; his grandchildren, Nick Maughan (Natasha Canada), Chris Bowden (Marci), Reed Bowden (EmaLea), Michael Bowden (Megan) and Braden Bowden (Kayla); and his great grandchildren, Destiny, Willow Maughan and Wrenley Bowden.
The family requests that attendees bring and wear a mask.
Instead of flowers, memorial gifts will support Allen College, Christian Crusaders and Fresh Wind Worship at Western Home Communities.
