He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard "Dick" McKernan and Ruth McKernan (Barth); and his brother Stan McKernan. He is survived by: his wife Pam McKernan of Cedar Falls; his children, Matthew McKernan (Adriane) of Cedar Falls, Stacy Decker (Grant) of Dike and Christine McKernan of Cedar Falls; his grandchildren, Samantha McKernan, Landen, Cameron, Gavin, Raelynn and Addison Decker; his brothers, Greg McKernan (Gina) of San Antonio, Randy McKernan of Cedar Rapids, Ron McKernan (Cyndi) of Whitehall and Mark McKernan of Denver, Colorado; and his sister-in-law Jane McKernan of Decorah. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers/plants, memorials may be directed to the family for future designation.
