James left this world on May 2, 2024 at the age of 83, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. He was predeceased by: his parents, Amos Gilbertson and Edna Gilbertson; his sisters, Lorraine Bakke (Ray) and Shirley Sheimo (Frank); his siblings-in-law, Ardis Sheimo (Richard) and Dean Suby (Katherine); and his son-in-law David Hoffman.
He is survived by: his wife Judy Yvonne Suby of Cedar Falls; his daughters, Becky Willems (Mark) of Monona, Beth Hoffman of San Diego and Sara Janssen (Tim) of Cedar Falls; his grandchildren, Mallory Lunesmann (Casey), Hannah Wolos (Drew), Zachary, Peter Hoffman (Torie), Carter and Caeden Janssen; his great grandchildren, Colin Wolos, Willem Lunesmann and Norah Hoffman; his sister Darlene Zeismer of Garner; and his caregiver Jim. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
As a thank you to them, in lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be given to Hospice at UnityPoint Allen Hospital.
