It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Gehrig Kenneth La Velle of Cedar Falls, Iowa, who passed away on April 6, 2025, at the age of 80, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Kenneth Velle and Beth La Velle (Maxson); his stepfather Gaylord Johnson; and his brother Ronald La Velle. He is survived by: his wife Beth; his son Ken La Velle (Melissa Secrease) of Buena Vista, CO; his grandchildren, Coltt La Velle (Lindsay) of Elbert, CO and AllieRae La Velle of Grand Junction, CO; his great grandchild Brett; his brothers, Maxson La Velle (Laurie) of Monticello, MN, Robert La Velle of Waterloo and Kent La Velle of Melbourne, FL; and his sister-in-law Young Hui of South Korea.
Visitation was held on Thursday, April 10th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the St. Luke's Episcopal Church (2410 Melrose Dr, Cedar Falls, IA 50613). A memorial service was held on Thursday, April 10th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. He played bass guitar in a band in his younger years and yearned to start an audio production studio to help young musicians record their music which wasn't able to get traction due to the COVID shutdown.
