He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard Witzel and Mable Witzel (Lacour); his sister Sharon Busch; and his sister-in-law Sondra Gamzer. He is survived by: his wife Barb; his daughter Laurie Cox (Brian) of Cedar Falls; his grandson Chris Creery (Katie) of Cedar Rapids; his siblings, LeRoy Witzel (Susan) of Humboldt and Zelda Larson (Marlyn) of Ankeny; and his brothers-in-law, Bob Busch of Fort Atkinson and Franc Gamzer of Hartland, WI..

Memorials may be directed to Blessed Beginnings at Nazareth or Camp Courageous in Monticello.
