With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Gary Hesse of Cedar Falls, Iowa, born in Decorah, Iowa, who passed away on November 5, 2024 at the age of 75. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his father Roger Hesse; his parents-in-law, Charles and Virginia Schanz; his brother-in-law Melvin Stokes; and his nephew Scott Stokes (Scooter).
He is survived by: his mother LaVonne Hesse (Geving) of Waukon; his wife Mary Ann Schanz of Cedar Falls; his children, Shawn Bobst (James) of Cedar Falls, Heather Locus (Dan Potts) of Chicago, IL and Jason Hesse (Rachelle) of Jesup; his grandchildren, Jay Gogola (Alex), Jaime Bobst, Tyce, Teagan Locus, Alexis, Brock Hesse, Cade, Gavin, Tyler and Ava Nolan; his great grandchild Brady Gogola; his siblings, Randy Hesse (Lori) of Waukon, Wendy Bucheit of Waukon, Perry Hesse (Marcia) of Waukon and Holly Hesse of Springfield, MO; and his sister-in-law Beverly Stokes of Ottumwa. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. John Lutheran Church, Northeast Iowa Food Bank, or a charity of choice.
