We are sad to announce that on May 12, 2023 we had to say goodbye to Donald Denkinger of Cedar Falls, Iowa. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Anton Denkinger and Marie Hay Denkinger; his siblings, Helene Bergman, Marian Denkinger and Bill Denkinger; and his brothers-in-law, Kenny Bergman and Tom Parrott.

He is survived by: his wife Gayle Denkinger; his daughters, Darcel Nikolajsen (Timm), Denise Hanson (Tony) and Dana Kelly (Mike) of Downers Grove, IL; his grandchildren, Ryan, Aubrey, Maggie, Aden and Lee; his stepgrandsons, Jeff and Michael; his stepgreat-grandson Lyle; and his siblings, Tony Denkinger (Dodie) of Johnstonm, IA and Linda Parrott.

Memorials may be directed to St. John Lutheran Church, Cedar Valley Hospice, UMPS CARE Charities.

“I was so sad to hear of his passing. I am the nephew of umpire Nestor Chylak and remember meeting Mr. Denkinger several times when I was in HS. Russ Goetz was also a part of the crew and I had the honor of communicating with him until his death. My Aunt Sue ALWAYS spoke highly of Don and I remember him being a kind soul and a great umpire. May he rest in peace!”
