He was predeceased by: his parents, Alvin Brase and Rosalie Brase (Reuscher); his brother Mark; and his granddaughter Giselle. He is survived by: his wife Debra Ann Steggall; his son Dustin (Heather); his grandchildren, Tyler (Jordyn) and Taylor (Jacob); his daughter Danielle (John); his grandchildren, Genevieve and Weston; his daughter Dawn (Sterling); his grandchildren, Jillian and Jameson; his daughter Romana (Kristopher); his grandchildren, Alexandro and Cristiano; and his brothers, Bruce Brase and Ross Brase (Peggy). He is also survived by aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Dean's honor may be directed to Iowa Pheasants Forever.
