He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy Merfeld and Carrie Merfeld (Stewart); his son Jay; and his grandson Todd. He is survived by: his sons, Bruce Merfeld (Peggy) of Cedar Falls and Dan Merfeld (Nancy) of Elburn, Illinois; his daughter-in-law Christy Merfeld of Cedar Rapids; and his brother Dean Merfeld. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren.
