He was predeceased by : his parents, Merrill Houser and Marilynn Houser (Henry); his in-laws, Carl and Aretta Ackerman; and his nephew Scott Houser.

He is survived by : his wife Paula; his children, Leslie Poynter, Grant Houser and Devin Houser (Kami); his stepchildren, Kim Carlin and Cyndy (Marty); his brothers, Darrell Houser (Marsha), Kent Houser (Marlene), Melvyn Houser (LaRue) and Lewis Houser (Joan); and his grandchildren, Richard Poynter (Heather), Chalsea Clemmons (Dana), Jaclynn Johnson (Frank), Rachelle Edwards (Bobby), Katie Wilson (Walker), Melissa Anderson, Mindy Helbling, Nicholas, Nathan Mortensen, Haley Deal, Jakob and Allie Houser.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials are directed to the family to be used in his honor.
