He was predeceased by: his parents, Lawrence Gute and Mary Gute; his parents-in-law, Clem and Florence Balk (Dorene); and his siblings-in-law, George Schramm, Charles Sandquist, LaVerne Balk, Terry Balk (Nancy), LeRoy Balk, Ray Balk, Thelma Grimsman (Harry), Louise Sloth and Marlene Brincks.
He is survived by: his grandchildren, Cory Gute, Dillon Rupiper, Chase Rupiper, Miles Rupiper, Justin Seidl, Noah Seidl, Trevor Hulsing, Kody Gute, Kameron Gute, Jennifer Reicks, Cassie Kathol, Chelsea Klocke, Jordan Seidl, Nicole Seidl and Taylor Hulsing; his wife Dorene C. Balk; his children, Dan (MaryAnn) of Guthrie Center, Doug (Shelly) of Carroll, Deb Klocke (Brad Knudson) of Mt. Carmel, Pam Rupiper (Doug) of Carroll, Brenda Seidl (Tim) of Dedham, Kris Hulsing (Kevin), Don (Tami) of Carroll and Mary Ann Brincks of Carroll; his siblings, Alvin Gute of Carroll, Vernon Gute (Linda) of Modale, Dennis Gute (Ann) of Carroll, Eugene Gute of Afton, Lucille Sandquist of Carroll, Marilyn Schramm of Papillion, Juanita Bruno (Joe) of Marseilles, IL and Arlene Brooks of Haines, Alaska; and his siblings-in-law, Gary Balk of Manning, Dale Sloth of Audubon, Melvin Brincks of Roselle and Judy Balk of Templeton. He is also survived by fifteen grandchildren: six great-grandchildren.
