It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Donald Nieland of Carroll, Iowa, born in Lake City, Iowa, who passed away on December 15, 2021, at the age of 86, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Julius Sr. Nieland and Emma Nieland (Huegerich); his siblings, Erma Hanson, Virgil and Julius Jr.; his mother-in-law Glennie Prince; his siblings-in-law, Sharon Nieland, Lillian Nieland, Carol Musfeldt, Bette Prince, Doug McAdon and Ed Musfeldt; and his nephews, Tom Hanson and Aaron Nieland.
He is survived by: his wife Kay; and his children, Karen Nieland of Carroll, Karleen Waters (Jim) of Clive, Donald M Nieland of Madison, WI, Marc Nieland (Joyce) of Carroll, Kristy Weitl (Jerry) of Templeton, Kathy Behrens (Mark) of Carroll, Diane Irvine (Tom) of Cedar Rapids, Cheryl Sievers (John) of Loveland, CO, Julie Kennebeck (Dennis) of Carroll, Beth Schultes (Lynn) of Emmetsburg, Susie Boles (Alan) of Breda, Jenny Pudenz (Joe) of Bellevue, NE and Brad Nieland (Sabrina) of South Windsor, CT. He is also survived by 34 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, Don's family suggests memorials to St. Anthony Cancer Center or Kuemper Tuition Assistance.
