He was predeceased by: his parents, Virgil M. Halterman and Wilma O. Halterman; and his brother Gordan Halterman. He is survived by: his former wife Victoria Hook; his sons, Wray Lee Halterman of Arizona and Randell Stacy Halterman; his wife Shirley Harrah; his children, Randy Halterman of Arizona and Rene (Kevin Valentine) of Unionville, Missouri; his stepchildren, Tim Brylie of Pleasantville, Penny Jergensen of Winterset, Tammy McKinney of Winterset, Steve and Tracey Brylie of Newton, Iowa; his grandchildren, Dylan Valentine of Ottumwa, Tanya (Robert Goodyear), Kristina McCain (Coleman Mayer) and Jeremiah McCain of Unionville; his granddaughter-in-law Maude; his grandson Martin Bishop; and his friend Milton Chumbley. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews; his sister.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Virgil's name to the American Cancer Society.
